I barely ever played as a kid. Fully intended to, but it was difficult to wrangle people and the game was borderline abusive in some ways (so many one-off tables in 2.5e). I would read the rulebooks, but generally that was as far as it went.
In 2016, on a whim, I looked into the latest edition and slipped into writing an elaborate tool so I could play it over text chat on Discord through org-mode in Emacs (because of course I did) and running a weekly game.
I’ve since moved on from 5e, somewhat disenchanted and gone hard into a zero-prep approach. I had to remember that it’s supposed to be fun for everyone.
- Old School Essentials (OSE) is the unfiltered stuff
- Index Card RPG (ICRPG) is no mere honorable mention; it might be the sweet spot for all RPGs
- Blades in the Dark has changed the way I see all RPGs
- Mothership Alien/Aliens OSR; nice and streamlined that really captures the feelings
- Loved the stripped down feel of Five Torches Deep
- Intrigued by Tiny Dungeon

Forest Home
A Fantasy Short Story I don’t recall why I wrote this. I guess I just felt like it?
Anyway, it doesn’t do anyone any good just sitting around on my machine, so it lives here now.

Venomfang Modifications: Revisited
Once Again! I’ve updated and revised my Lost Mines of Phandelver modifications. At this point I’ll probably just call it a day, but thought I’d post the updated version for posterity.
The formatting has been updated extensively and I’ve added images from the module. I focused on making this printable as a booklet (albeit formatted for letter paper) which I’ve tested and find convenient. You can use something like PDF-Xchange (if you’re on windows) to fairly easily do that.

Venomfang Modifications
Introduction This modification to the narrative of Lost Mines of Phandelver leverages the young green dragon Venomfang as a master manipulator working to his own ends. This also supposes that Venomfang has matured to the point that he is 1-5 years away from becoming an Adult Green Dragon.

This is a further imagining of Venomfang as the real villain in Lost Mines of Phandelver, specifically how the various enemy factions tie together as a sprawling effort to gain power.
